Original Broadcast Date: 13 January 1990

Phelps walks across the stage in an auditorium where Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor is being played. He speaks to the organist (Gareth Wilding Forbes).

Phelps: The music of Johann Sebastian Bach. Not only a great composer, but I understand he was an accomplished organist himself.

Organist: He was. But he never played an organ like this one. It has over 7,500 different pipes.

Phelps: That would make it one of the largest in the world.

Organist: And one of the finest sounding. Have a look at the pipes around back.

Phelps goes into the back of the organ and finds the player. He puts it on a wooden table. The password is 681.

Good morning, Jim. On the surface, the Pacific Island Republic of New Belgium appears to be a jungle paradise. But hundreds of villagers in the highlands have died recently under mysterious circumstances. For centuries, the inaccessibly dense jungle has protected these simple hill people from wanton exploitation by outsiders. But now, if reports are correct, the discovery of gold in this area may have changed that. We suspect that the villagers are being poisoned by contact with cyanide. Proper usage of cyanide is part of the most efficient method of extracting gold. But outlawed methods which expose workers to this chemical can be deadly. To the New Belgium government, where corruption and bribery is so rife, this inhumanity is simply overlooked. Your mission, Jim, should you decide to accept it, is to stop this genocide of one of the few remaining Stone Age peoples. As always, should you or any member of the IM Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This disc will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Jim.

Phelps closes the player and leaves. Smoke billows from the machine.
